Premium Pharmaceutical-Grade Chinese Herbal Medicine

Qualiherb products are made by Sheng Chang Pharmaceuticals, a Tier-One herb manufacturer in Taiwan. Tier One products are the highest grade herbal medicines in the world, meeting pharmaceutical quality and manufacturing standards.

Most herbal products from Taiwan are either Tier Two or Tier Three; these are more appropriate for public and retail use. Tier One products are professional-grade, used in hospitals and herbal clinics around the world.

To understand the importance of using pharmaceutical-grade herbal medicine in your practice, we need to look at the varying levels of GMP:

The Three Levels of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
1. Food GMP
2. Supplement GMP

- For nutritional & herbal supplements
- Some herb/supplement companies meet this standard
3. Pharmaceutical GMP
- For prescription drugs & top-grade supplements
- Very few herb/supplement companies meet this standard

Herbal Raw Material Testing

About Sheng Chang, the Manufacturer of Qualiherb Products
Sheng Chang Pharmaceuticals was first established on October 1946 in Taipei, Taiwan. The initial operation specialized in the production of powdered crude herbs. Since then, the company has continuously improved its production and research equipment. In 1956, Sheng Chang significantly expanded its production and sales.

The construction of the Chungho factory began in 1964. By 1966, the modernized production equipment and instruments were in operation. In 1967 our new form of Concentrated Extract Chinese Herbal Medicine was marketed and won widespread acceptance in the local market. The vacuum concentrating equipment was installed the next year. 1969 saw the first issue of our magazine "Sheng Chang Herbal Journal", a quarterly exclusively devoted to Chinese Medicine. This was the first periodical of its kind in Taiwan. Sheng Chang underwent an extensive reorganization in 1972, and in 1973 brought in additional vacuum concentration and spray-drying equipment from Europe and Japan. This was followed by the installation of large-scale concentration and spray-drying equipment in 1977. Powder and pill production equipment was also overhauled. In 1979, another set of spray-drying, tablet and film coating equipment was brought into operation. A research laboratory was established when the plant was expanded in 1981. In 1983, a brand new line of production equipment expanded our production capacity to three times what it had been ten years before. When the government promulgated GMP standards in 1982, we exerted all efforts in the implementation of these standards throughout its factory, and a master file of each licensed herbal product was completed in 1985. The National Health Administration inspected the factory in April 1986 and approved the first export permit of Chinese Herbal Medicine produced by Sheng Chang. In 1986, we invested 500 Million NT Dollars in new GMP plant, which we completed in May 1988. In August 1988, a further inspection was conducted by GMP Committee; Sheng Chang's herbal products all underwent and passed strict Pharmaceutical GMP inspection at that time.

Today, Sheng Chang/Qualiherb's herbal products are among the best, safest and clinically most effective in the world. US clinicians enthusiastically use our products for the benefit of their patients, knowing that they are recommending the finest herbal medicine available anywhere.
